Just back from Mugello and all I can say is ...............WOW

The Italians are totally nuts.

Firstly upon arrival you are not directed into a nice sanitised parking area, simply directed straight to the circuit, deposit the bike anywhare you can find a space. You are surrounded with camper vans and tents with bottles and cans strewn around.

All Italians love noise............... all the campers seemed to have a 2 stroke crappy scooter that immediatly modified by cutting off the exhaust, smashing the fairing and then driving amongst the crown creating the maximum noise. even once the tyres were burnt out they would continue trying to rev the nuts off the machines.

The authorities (struggled to locate any) seemed to have the opinion of do what you like and we will clear up the mess!!!!!

We walked the round the circuit perimiter on practice day in the bucketing thunder storm and scorching heat that swapper roles all day, to agree the best vantage point and look at all the parked bikes only one other Falco spotted, YD's still had all the luggage attached so he wasnt far away but no answer from his mobile, sorry I missed you.

An English chap was hit by lightning in the crowd about 100 yards from me, dont know the outcome as he was whisked away with his wife in an ambulance..............

Race day, plotted up on a bank (cant remember the name but it was the corner Rossi used for all the overtakes), some Locals showed up very organised and built an scaffolding podium some 7 feet tall for 8 people, all those aquaducts had given them good practice. Other people arrived with Picks and spades and dug an impresive set of battlements to level the banks, now Brands Hatch would have had a fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well as you know Rossi did the business and the crowd went totally nuts, guys climbed the two roles of 9ft fencing in front of us and led a track invasion, other people could not be bother exerting themselves and simply produced the bolt cutters and went to work. within minuites of the last lap the obligatory scooters joined the pedestrians spilt onto the circuit and the party started. I have never seen anything like it..............

We made our way to the podiums in time to see Suzi Perry's bum and mingle with circa 20,000 on the start finish straight totally nuts.......

I will try and sort some pics, my parting note is GO TO MUGELLO it is one experience I will never forget.

Not all his overtakes, just about half tho :smt003 Materassi, Borgo San Lorenzo and Casanova, where where he did 4 overtakes.

The rest were Arrabbiata 1&2 (thats the lowest point of the track) (2) and Correntaio (1)

Glad you had a great time, I want to do a track day there.
