cal to ducati?

#1 Post by robbier6 » Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:52 pm

Rumour has it that Cal Crutchlow is going to sign for ducati in the next fortnight, looks like his dreams of being motogp champion or evening winning a race have just ended!

FFS Surely Yamaha have to give him a full works ride - best for him and best for them.

I really hope Cal doesn't do it. They were soundly beaten by a CRT bike at Assen, FFS.

I agree with all comments, Yamaha must give him full works bits and let him stick with Tech 3, (with funding from Dorna)!

Im sure he has more sense than that, infact he HAS more sense than that.
He rode well at Assen, having difficulty with handling issues with a full tank.
A sensible considered rider, far beter thought process than the sqaubbling Repsol riders, IMHO

Ducati is the last place he should go and i'm sure he must realise it with Dovvy being his teammate last year, he'd be better of on tha Aprilia CRT if he really has to move!

I can't see Cal getting a factory yamaha spot, lets be honest the name Rossi sells bikes. Don't get me wrong I think Cal deserves the factory yamaha spot I just can't see him getting one unless Yamaha do a Honda and run a three man team.

Whatever happens he should steer clear of Ducati, just because it's a factory ride doesn't mean it's a promotion, just look at the championship standings.

Oh a side note, hats off to Aprilia for their CRT machine (even though the whole CRT idea should be scrapped)

I hope I'm totally wrong, but seems like he's doing it just for the pay cheque and TBH I'd do the same as you're a long time retired in racing and better to have a few mill in the bank than still be trying to get competitive rides in bsb when you're 40+.
I'd rather yamaha give him some support.. i also think that he should have asked his agent to approach yamaha direct and ask what was going on then seek their permission to find other rides....the japanese value integrity honour and respect if Cal's done this on the QT i doubt he'll ride for any japanese manufacturer again.

I have a one word counter-argument for the need for this honourable approach and the possibility of riding for them again ................
......... Rossi.

I rest my case.

Besides I think that Herve has been kept in the loop and I expect Lin Jarvis knows the score too.

fair point well made..and in hindsight I agree.

shame though as I think Cal would have been better biding his time, if his form continues he wouldn't be short of offers.
