No longer Wanted: gear shift lever

Hi all,

Due to a stupid mistake on my part, my previously undamaged Falco is in need of an un-bent gear lever (the bit you move with your foot).

If anyone has one 'surplus to requirements', I'd like to talk to you.

Thanks,
Viking

If you don't mind going gp shift, I am removing mine off my Bluono for a set of AP rearsets in the next week.

I have a 'Wanted' notice over on 'the other place' and have had a reply already. Leigh has just got back from his annual NZ trip and I don't think he'll be doing much, as one of his mates was killed whilst over there.

I ran a GP-style setup on my old Honda years ago. I'm a bit reluctant to do the same to the Falco at the moment, though. I'll keep it in mind for the moment, though.

Cheers,
V

Quick update:

Leigh doesn't have any Falco bits lying around. I found a lever on eBay but the postage cost from America is the same as the cost of the lever. :smt009

Falconihlist, you have a PM.

Cheers,
V

I believe K1w1boy has one for sale ..... but it's rather expensive and comes with all the remaining parts of a Falco attached.

Probably not quite what you were looking for .........

Sorry

Have you tried straightening your old one?

I've managed to straighten one out in the past that wasn't too badly bent

It's a very tempting idea, but I think Mrs Viking would have a screaming pink fit if another bike appeared in the garage. Not to mention the huge number appearing on the credit card statement.

I had thought about it, but wasn't too keen on the idea. I've tried to straighten bent alloy things in the past and ended up breaking them.

I suppose a gentle application of heat (via a blow-torch) would help?

Hurrah!

I managed to get it about 95% straight last night. A "gentle" application of blow-torch and a dirty-great-big hammer sorted it. Yay!

I also cleaned a ton of crap out of the linkages on there and regreased the gear lever. So much smoother now.

And on top of that, I have a new gear lever coming from a very helpful Aprilia owner in Sydney.
