Mmm. Think I need to change my engine really. The 'incident' I had with a sprocket and snapped chain caused a leak which I can't fix.

Is it a big job to change? Why did you take it out?

Paul, Just ask Pierre, he's done it a hundred times or possibly more :smt005

There have been a few comments and posts on the AF1 site about how easy the Tuono motor is to swap. I can't see the Falco being too difficult if you take your time and do it logically. Of course a nice warm, well lit workshop will always make any major transplant easier and our American friends all seem to have garages the size of Yorkshire attached to their houses

hi
the engine was swapped for a 04 factory engine with big tb's, just because i could really :smt016
lol

it wasnt too big a job, took 2 of use about 4hrs to remove and fit, 1 trick is to jack the new motor and tilt the rear backwards when refitting,
just be methodical ,if you arent sure take a picture of it,
we just started with the panels, drained all the fluids,if i remember correctly there are only a hand full of connectors, mark them with small labels if you have to,
jack under the motor, unbolt engine, then just reverse the process.

where abouts are you biggun?

feels like more than 100 :smt002 Depends on how much of a rush you are in Bigun. I have short attention span and walk away before i hammer it to death.

sms is right tho, its just step by step unclipping things, unbolting things. I found it easier to get them out cos i chock it up, loosen everything out then knock the chocks out :smt003
Sensible way would be to jack it up but it wouldnt fit under. If i remember nearly all the connectors are unique and dont reach much further than where they are supposed to go anyway so i just rip mine out willy nilly

Hardest part it angling it right when you put it back in, has to leant backwards then jacked, then wiggled , then jacked then usually hammered. Easy with 2, bastard by yourself.

Probably get it done in a weekend easy. I'm still on with mine after 2 months :smt003 Me and my hammers are available for help if needed

edit:btw im having a bastard of a job putting 05 factory engine in. Wanted to leave downpipes standard for ease of replacement but the rear pipe catches the swingarm. cut and welded it but then the s-bend underneath left pipe exited into the swingarm. Had spare 04 swingarm *cough* so put that on but didnt have the right linkages. Bought some off ebay and for some reason (i think shock height) it wont fking fit by 1 fking mm even tho same setup fits on my roadbike. Apart from that the engine is a straight swap :smt002

SMS - will have a look at the finances and have a serious think this week. Went for a blast this morning and had a look underneath when I got home and the belly pan is soaked in oil. Its pissing out somewhere new so something isn't right. Distance isn't a problem as I cover whole UK with work so can tie something in.

Pierre - are you safe to be out on your own? :smt002 Fancy swapping my engine?

Paul.

Hi all,

Pierre's HUGE bat cave will accomodate loads of engine swops :smt002 His selection of hammers is only limited by how many hands are available :smt003 Sounds like fun... I can lend a hand as well if needed ...
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

Welcome to bring it down dude,I have a new pudlick. I developed a simple plan last time.

Tank off, panels off, airbox off
Pub
Wiring disconnected,engine mounting bolts removed
Pub
Cooling system drained and removed
Pub
Engine out
Pub
Reverse of above.

Should take about a fortnight :smt002

Infact bring them both then there'll be 4 falcos unroadworthy in the same garage. Some kind of record?
