I already looked ages ago and TBH I saw your post last night and was tempted but until I clear my bits out ooh err I need to be controlled .... Cue the squid ;)
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.

Chip fitted, Airkit and inlet snorkel fitted, bike run up. All is fiiine and dandy.
Will take it for a run out tomorrow as I need to change the 3 suspension bolts that ive been meaning to change for a month now.. and they do need changing! So test flight has been delayed. all looks promising though. Well packaged too, I meant to add. Ta very much

It..
a. helps smooth the flow of the clean air entering the chamber above the plate.. air drawn in (on rsv at least) comes in thru the frame and is directed via the snorkel up into the air chamber (above the plate..underside of tank..throttle body area)
Without it clean air would drawn in thru the frame but be turbulent due to battering about the throttle bodies and engine under the plate before being drawn up into the chamber.. and therefore possibly less efficient in the way the engine is supplied with air; as the Kawa boys like to say, it's all to do with the ram air effect.. (more at higher speeds possibly)
b. without it it would be drawing in more warm air from around the rads/front header, especially at slower speeds.. which affects volumetric efficiency and all that sort of malarkey.. probably not much, but it does. (more at lower speeds possibly)

I have a problem with the highlighted red bits. The air filter cancels out the turbulance and you can't get a ram air effect with a rene airkit. If it did get any pressure you would have to be doing some serious speed taking into account the amount the engine is sucking in and how much air is passing by the air filter and escaping. I think i could fart more pressure lolKwackerz wrote:paddyz1 wrote:Why the snorkel with the rene airkit? I just took mine out as i did not see the point of having one.

I understand on the RSV about clean air etc due to the way everything is enclosed but the Falco has more open areas to let cooled air though.
Just my humble opinion. Sorry to go off topic in the for sale thread
Lol I know we dont get ram air, despite what some on AF1 seem to think, hence quoted as 'kawa boys'.. I was more trying to say a smoother more controlled and directed airflow.. like you get with a kawasaki ram air set up, it's channelled into the airbox
The airfilter will cancel out a certain amount of fluctuations, yes, but you will still get a much more erratic air delivery to the filter in the first place than having it channelled to it
