From 23rd Feb LIDL will have their bike kit in again.

It looks as though it's manly under layers, gloves and helmets etc but worth a look.

Never sure about Aldi or Lidle helmets having seen customers drop them on the floor and then just stick them back with the others but other stuff can be good.
Plastic tank owners beware that the tank bag is magnetic.
I have the waterproof oversuit and other than it not being a 2-piece, I'm really pleased with it.

Also from the 23rd they have what they advertise as car accessories - but some of that could be of interest too (the Futura guys might even make use of the car seat covers, car seat organisers and rugs)

I use aldi compassion stuff for football etc excellent way better than umbro Nike etc ... Not bad for the bike too

So is that like their compression stuff - but a little more caring?

I wasn't impressed with the tank bag. It split after a few weeks regular use. The undies & socks were pretty good though, just the thing for clubbing

If you don't have a breaker bar, these are are good for loosening the Futura rear wheel nut (minimum tightening torque 125 Nm, but more is better)

Got this months edition of RIDE through the post. (Not sure how it works, seem to have a subscription I never paid for ) and one of the readers letters was about the Aldi rain suit. Page 23 "Supermarket Chic".

I bought a Lidl flip up helmet and the wheel brace.
At this time of year I don't like the idea of my Arai getting shot blasted by rock salt, gravel and sand, and you only need to have to dry wipe this shit off your visor once and it's stuffed.
I had always wanted to try a flip up helmet with a built in sun visor and the idea of buying one to use in winter for the same sort of price as an Arai replacement visor seemed a risk worth taking.
I got there early on the first day and found an XL in an unopened box, so thought I would give it a try. You get a bag, two visors and spare cheek padding for the the £39 price.
It felt nothing like the Arai when I put it on and my initial thought was what have I done, but hey at that price let's give it a longer run.
Did over a hundred miles on a damp day, which was blindingly sunny when the sun came out of the clouds, but quite dark when it went behind them. It felt better the longer I wore it.
On a sunny winter day like this I would struggle with the Ray Ban iridium sun glasses or tinted visors I normally wear and on some occasions I have ended up riding with my right hand on the bar and my left hand up to my eyes as a sun shield.
Being able to flip the sun visor constantly up and down to suit was absolutely brilliant as many of you will already be aware.
The main visor also has a special anti fog coating that feels sort of sticky, plus the chin vent feeds air to a line of multiple holes that direct air straight up the inside of the visor, which seems to work brilliantly; probably slightly better than my Arai with the normal "double glazed pinlock. So only used once so far, but seems to be a decent budget buy as a second winter or occasional helmet or just one for somebody on a tight budget. Plus it is to German standards, so should be pretty well made.

Went into the Walsgrave Aldi last week and although i have most pieces of kit now, bought the windproof pants (...waits for jokes?) and they seem very similar to the Biker ones in Hein Gericke that are £39.99...£30 dearer!

They work well. At least as good as the Oxford Chill-Outs, & less than a quarter of the price
