I had them for about 2 years 15k miles.

Fit was good, they were waterproof (at the start), but a but too cold for my liking. I was using them when the bike was my only form of transport.

My lock up is ~100meters away from my flat, and I've noticed that the soles are getting worn, so I've started using my old boots for commuting, the Sidi's became my rideout only gear.

After 1.5 year they started leaking - I found the receipt and send them back. Due to them being over year old they had to be send to Italy and Sidi rejected the clam as they have been used too much as the average use of a motorcycle is 4k miles a year.

I know 15k is a bit of mileage but I'd expect a £150+ boot to handle it fine. In comparison my mate's Black Rains hold up fine despite them being cheaper, lower spec and most importantly having more miles on them than mine.

currently I am using a set of frank thomas water proof boots - under a hu8ndred quid three years ago and still good....

Mine are from Aldi - think they were about 25 quid - very happy with them

Mine are Akito Vipers that I bought secondhand because problems with my ankle mean I can't break new footwear in very well - they're comfy for riding AND walking and turned out to be waterproof as well!

Not bad for £20 and I use them for all occasions when I might have worn wellies too!

...I've worn out 2 pairs of the alpinestars smx5 in 6 years (dunno how many miles) before the sidis. The smx5 were cool boots, but I got sick of catching toe sliders on furniture etc and losing them, and at the end of both 2-3 year runs the soles thinned out alarmingly and the toes were flapping.
The fit of the sidis is good, and they look kinda cool but the comment about the waterproofing and the sole wearing out worries me.
The mark-down was fab - even for ebay. Reseller was called ghostbikes fyi

I probably should add that if it was the only faulty pair manufactured, then no wonder I bought it.

Kiwiboy, Dyzio, have you tried riding with your feet on the footrests, not dragging on the floor?

Most race-styled boots seem to have woefully inadequate soles for day-to-day 'real world' use; a pair of TCXs (can't remember which model) were just about worn through after 2 years; my current Sidi Vertigo goretex are getting a bit thin now on the soles, after 2 1/2 years. Just from walking around places in them. My main worry here is that the near-absence of tread makes them rather lacking in grip when 'paddling' the bike

Those that offer heavier soles (eg TCX Infinity, some Daytonas) may not suit most sports bike riders, 'tho I'm considering the Infinity for my next pair.

I've got some Arlen Ness boots which I had to buy a size too large just to get them on. Should have realised then that all was not well but persevered. Now I've 'worn them in' the total lack of waterproofing has reared it's ugly head. As has their depressing habit of chucking toesliders away. As has their depressing trait of squeaking when walking. As has their annoying tendency to squeeze my right foot after an hour or so.

Still, at least the soles are holding up well.
