How is it on the Falco (with DB screen), loud, draughty, perfect??? Thinking of buying one, but don't want to end up paying a fat wad for something not suited to the bike.

i've got an astro r schwantz rep (got it cheap from superbikes.com) £250.

Lid is great, lovely ventilation and very comfy. But it is very loud. I have to ride with ear plugs or else after a long ride i've got ringing ears for a few days.

So if you don't like wearing plugs or like to listen to your mp3 player it's a no no

As far as i know Arais are loud though.

Hi Nooj - I've got an Astro J. I've had three Arais (Quantum, Signet and this Astro) all have been great. Very light but you do get some wind noise round the visor. Vents are ace and the de-mist mechanism is very good.
Arais suit my head shape - tried Shoe and AGV and Shark and can't get on with them.
Haven't got a db screen so can't answer that for you.

I'm on my second Arai, had a Quantum F, now got an Astro R.
Same as the other two good vents and comfort, but noisy without ear plugs.
Good job there free issue at work.

I always use luggy pluggies anyway, the main noise concern is hearing the other people on bike radios, with the Shoei I can't make out what's being said over about 80mph so I'm assuming it will be harder with an Arai?

Cant see the difference between an expensive Arai and a normal priced helmet likewise HJC and Bell.
Only difference was that my Arai is very noisy. So never a Arai again for me...got a HJC full carbon now and its a great piece of kit for almost have the price of a Arai...

As I said in the "roof" discussion the Schuberth R1 is great and I use it with lug plugs and a Autocm system with no probs.

Nooj have you tried the mould them yourself ears plugs they work well with the communication systems.

Echo what the others say. The Astro R is noisy when it picks up wind turbulence. Not sure how much you would get with the DB screen but with the standard, its an earplugs job. On my (naked) CB1300 i could use it without plugs. The lack of screen helped.
