I thought it was a life expectancy of time not milage.
Thats what I used to think, I was put right about it.
I was told that the average rider does 4 to 5 k a year, so if your helmet lasts 5 years there's your 20-25k mileage.
I'm changing mine again when I'm back on a bike as even though its got another 10k left in it, I hate the damn thing, its far to noisy

I like AGV's as well, fit very well on me, but its the designs, more suitable for scooter riders methinks (and Rossi reps)
... and how is it for you pedestrians? You really should get a bike to get best use out of it Gio .....

Hmmm, how many miles a year do you ride?
Across the 5 bikes I've had in 6 years and allowing for 2 years where I only did 2k each year I must have done 60+ thousand miles.

I've had 3 helmets the first deffo saved me head (an AGV it had a big rock wedged in the side of it after my off on the A3) the other 2 have been changed because of the mileage I've done (I change them after about 25K miles)
Hey Gio .... I wasn't being serious .... it was an attempted (and, obviously, failed) ironic comment on your unfortunate bikeless status.
As for your 10k+ per year average, Hats Off to you .... no hang on ... that doesn't seem to be quite the right comment for this thread .....
As for me, I don't do the kind of mileage on the bike I used to. I live closer to work - so commuting is less, I have to take my company car to work whenever I need to use it for business or whenever I may need to use it for business, my wife has given up riding pillion - so if we go anywhere together we have to go by car, we are a family of 5 so if more than 2 of us need to go somewhere, it's the car again. These days I'm just glad to pick and choose - there's almost never a week I don't ride and as long as I'm enjoying the fact that I can and do ride, that's good enough for me.
BTW, sorry Thumper for this minor thread hijack[/quote]
You'll have to forgive me, I'm easy to rattle atm
