helmet speakers

Other than the Autocom system, which i may get later in the year can anyone recomend some helmet speakers for MP3/Satnav, not after the microphone as well, just the speakers

There's a few on Ebay but wasn't sure about the quality

I have custom earplugs with inbuilt speakers which I use with my autocom Not cheap but more comfortable then the helmet speakers.

I use a starcom system - and their in helmet speakers are ok - BUT - I did specifically by a helmet to take them - Shoie Multitec :)

I used to use ear buds but i found them a pain in the bum - I much prefer everything to be wired in

Can't remember the name of the company he uses off the top of me head, but they're pretty good. Not tried them myself, so can't comment on the quality of sound, but if me old man recomends them, they can't be bad

Well, you shouldn't put things meant for your ears up your bum. Especially if they need wires.

I cannibalised an old mp3 player with a couple of buit in speakers and made the speakers fit in an old helmet, had to dig out some polystyrene. Soldered up a stereo socket the the wires and sewed the socket to the chinstrap. I made a double male ended stereo wire that allowed me to connect to a small radio or MP3 or pretty much anything that would drive a set of in ear earphones.

Worked pretty well and cost nothing but some of my time.

That was years ago and although OK for the commute into London I found them too distracting. On long trips the wind noise required more volume and was way too loud.

I'll stick with my nice quiet ear plugs ta.
