Twenty years ago today.

We occasionally get people on here talking about their football teams. Often these are smaller local teams, or a bit less local in Pete’s case.
As a long suffering Sheffield Wednesday fan I usually have “nowt “ to brag about so keep quiet.
Anyway I have decided to celebrate today!
To the tune of the old Beatles Sgt. Pepper song …………………..
It was twenty years ago today ………
The Barmy Army went to Wemberlee ……………
Can’t think of any more lines to add, but Wednesday beat Man U to win the League Cup on the 28th of April 1991.
So I am celebrating this today.
There is only one drink on offer I’m afraid, it’s a pint of the original Stones Best Bitter, from my very own virtual stock.
Best pint I ever had and brewed just down the road from the Hillsborough Football Ground.
Sad to reflect on something like this but us supporters of lesser teams have nothing else but memories like this.
At least we have won someting in the last 50 years.
Many supporters of small teams stay loyal, when they never see success.

Howard, There's always a reason to have a drink and support your team!
In bad times I still celebrate Norwich winning the Milk Cup in 85..

and every time we've beaten Ipswich,

also the fact we beat Liverpool on the day they closed the Kop.
SO yep, I'll join you in a Stones Best and here's to your Team and the win over Man Utd.

I did know that Pete, but just pointing out that Leeds ain't local now.
Anyway after a couple of pints of Stones best I am now in a more refletcive mode so thinking more positive.
It's not just the fact that we didn't go down
1) We didn't go bust and get docked 10 points.
2) The new chairman has negotiated away all the £30 Million debts, that we have had around our necks for more than 20 years.
3) The Bramall Lane Pigs are coming down to join us next year, (almost certainly).
Oink Oink.
Think I'll have another pint on the strength of that!

Once you have a team... That's it for life.....

Apparently it was a good game today D-R!
Dont think any of the Norwich faithful wouldve cared if you'd smashed us 10-0 though, they were just there for the celebrations afterwards...
We're now back up to where we came from after an extended holiday away..
W.A.P.L, W.A.P.L!
