Rum or Brandy?

#1 Post by BikerGran » Tue Dec 30, 2008 11:33 pm

I wrote this in reply to a little ditty in praise of rum penned by another biker on another forum, so I thought I'd inflict it on you lot as well - had to post it in the bar didn't I!

Rum or Brandy?

Rum’s good enough for some folks but not the drink for me
Cos I am made for finer stuff like wine and Earl Grey tea.
I’ve never spliced the mainbrace, whatever that thing is,
Though I must admit that Rumtoft with ice cream is the biz!
But when I come to drinking (which I come to every day)
A glass of finest cognac’s the sophisticated way.
And when I’m feeling poorly and in need of cheering up
I pour it in Ribena or in my coffee cup.
I don’t suppose it cures the cold or stops the nasty snot
But it gives me happy feelings and I giggle quite a lot!
It’s also more convenient to raid the brandy store
Cos t’other arf drinks brandy so there’s always oodles more –
If any reason’s needed for choosing what to drink
The fact that it’s available is number one I think!

I thang ewe!

I liked that, have a house point :smut

I'm a fan of Armagnac, but can't seem to find anywhere round here that has any choice. There's nothing in my local offy, and Sainsbury only sell one bottle (Often they do actually only have ONE bottle).

ooh now you're talkin!

What you need is a trip to France - any old supermarket will have several to choose from!

Indeed; Nooj's Falco will be clanking on the way back to Blighty later this year, I suspect. And all the noise will be coming from the luggage...
