Falco in The Highlands

Thought I would register here as this seems to be a good place for UK Falco owners.

Have had mine since late summer. It's pretty high milage at nearly 50,000, but it goes very well with few signs that it has wanted for anything through its life. Seems to have had lots of useful mods - SL Carbon pipes and factory chip, Mille swinging arm and shock, MPL (?) clutch slave cylinder, tail tidy, dinky indicators and various wiring mods are some which come to mind - and I have all the standard stuff too.

Paint is non standard, but I like it, and the wheels have been re done too. It's taking a wee bit of getting used to after my Laverda RGS, but I like it a lot. Tomorrow it's going in for a suspension service and a pair of new boots. As it isn't worth much I'm not sure how much to get done in terms of the forks, but I will definitely have different springs put in, at the moment the front end feels a bit choppy over the bumps.

A pic.

I also do a bit of travelling on my GS - that's me on the right, on the salt flats at Uyuni late 2019.

Welcome to the club! Nice collection you got there, although minus points for lawnmowers powered by electricity..!

Thanks. I've since sold the RGS - had it for about a decade and had gone as far as I could with it. I have a push cylinder mower too...

Nice Falco. I love the paint scheme. Two of us on Falco's did the NC500 in July last year. We used Ullapool for a base location. Awesome plce.

Hi There. Its the RGS that does it for me as an ex 180 Jota owner for many years in the early 80's. Never tried a 120 but they were supposed to be much nicer to ride and the fairly groundbreaking looks definitely improved with familiarity. However there always comes a point where its time to move on to pastures new.

PS always loved a sheepskin seat cover, Teutonic cool .... does it work?

The RGS is much more civilised and comforable than the Jota (I had a Jota-ised 3CL for a long time) and has a better engine and frame in my view. My 3CL, evil handling bastard that it was, was on a permanent mission to kill me, the RGS was much easier to ride. I liked both those bikes very much, but the engine in the Falco is such a peach, along with the looks and handling, I think I've found a bike I will enjoy for some time to come.

I like the sheepy, as Mrs 3D calls it. I reckon it gives another hour before arse ache sets in, and of course it looks the part!

RGS on a blasted muir: 1200cc forged pistons, Carillo rods, reworked head, Mikuni RS 36 flatslides, Corsa pipes, GSXR1100 wheels and discs, Brembo 4 pot calipers, tweaked suspension. Aye.

Great photo and excellent timing to get the bit of sun in the foreground, emphasising the brooding backdrop.

Nice bike, as well... :smt002

Sorry chaps, been away at the moneypit and haven't logged on in a month. 50+ spamming posts to remove on my return.
