Changes in Forum Admin Team

Hi Everyone

This is an announcement of some changes to the Ridersite Admin Team and an explanation as to why these changes have been made.

Background:
  • I'm sure that most of you will have noticed that Tim hasn't been about much lately. We've not fallen-out or anything but Tim has a lot on his plate at present - not least working crazy hours and spending a lot of time away from home. Over recent months, Pete and I have kept things ticking over and found Tim on the end of a phone when we have needed a bit of input.
Tim will retain his Admin rights but for the foreseeable future, he is unlikely to be on the forum very often - though always welcome when he's here.

I'm also sure that you will have seen Pete's recent post that he may be away for a while. He too has a lot going on at the moment and those that know him on Facebook will know that he has some worrying health concerns that are being investigated.

That leaves me .... and in a fortnight's time I'm off for a month's holiday in New Zealand as my wife's oncologist has said that she has recovered sufficiently from last year's treatment to go to visit her relatives - and while she's well enough, we're going.

MartDude has had Admin rights to part of the forum but it would be a tall-ask for him to keep things ticking over while I'm away with only limited resources to do the job.

The Changes:
  • So the Admin team have discussed this and decided that we needed to strengthen the team.
We've asked MartDude to allow us to "upgrade" his role to that of a full Admin. We are sure he will do a great job as someone who has been here for years, is well-loved by everyone, and will appeal to the Aprilia members as well as those that ride other bikes.

We've also extended the invitation to Mangocrazy to become an Admin. He too shares those same qualities that I highlighted in Mart and also has an IT background which could be helpful from time to time.
Thanks & Welcome:
  • I hope you will all join me in thanking Tim and Pete for all they have given to the forum over many years and all that they will continue to contribute - albeit more in the background for a period at least.
I also hope that you will be glad to hear that MartDude and Graham (Mangocrazy) have so willingly stepped up to the plate to keep the forum on an even keel going forward. Please wish them well.
Please also bear with us as we adjust to a rearranged team and be forgiving if one or two things slip through the holes as we adjust.

.... and with the days lengthening and the spring and summer on the horizon, let's get the forum buzzing again

To echo what Andy has said, I offer thanks to Tim and Pete for their input and help over the years.

And to Mart and Mango, Well done for stepping up to the challenge! I'm sure everything will go just fine :)

I guess it's only right and proper that I open up the bar and set up an open tab for everybody (shameless of me, I know).

Let's get this party started, then. What's yours? :smt003

So who do we burn, the incoming or the outgoing admins? :smt003

Well, nobody is actually "outgoing" ..... they'll just be sitting on the back-BURNER.

Traditionally we seem to burn everyone - guilty or not

A massive thanks to all that keep this running.
One question though, its about time I coughed up and put some pennies in the RS jar, so any changes to the donation set up ?

Thanks for the vote of confidence from the longer-serving luminaries of the admin team - I'll endeavour to live up to the high standards set by the resting admins, though I feel my feet may not be large enough to fill these borrowed shoes. And I'm more than glad to be sharing this honour with Graham, whose presence will provide, amongst many laudable attributes, the necessary counter-balance to my deplorable lack of IT talent. I'm sure he can insert a USB plug the right way up on the first attempt

That depends on how many glasses of red I've imbibed previously... :smt030

USB C will be the answer - you'll be able to put them in either way.

.... guess that still leaves the possibility of someone trying to put them in edge-on .....
