Pay rise result !

Please join me in a well earned beer, it took a lot of work but my payrise is 10.3%
I hear your gasps but this still puts me a few pence below the living wage but its a bloody impressive increase.
Took a lot of negotiation, involved a ballot on industrial action (91.4% in favour of a strike, 100% in favour of action short of a strike, eg overtime ban )
An immense amount of work on the part of myself and my fellow union rep, the original offer was 2% but not all are happy, its a staggered rise, the higher earners got 6.2% but that is still good.
So, my shout

Top man! Many congratulations. I've been discussing trying to unionise my workplace-what union do you belong to out of interest?

Unite is our union at work as we are sort of public service. I would advise you to act on your thoughts, as a union member you will have so much more protection and support at work, your employer can be reminded they are an emloyer not an owner of your soul.
last year our payrise was 1%, the employer dicked us about with union recognition. My managers manager said 'Give them 1%, fuck them what can they do about it !'
Well he got fired when we proved he had illegally obstructed the union. Im not really a militant but I wont stand for a dictatorship.
Thanks for the wishes
ps there is prob a union that may be specific to your type of work SJ

Well done that man, if only Unison could get a result like that for their members, 1% seems to be all that the government think nurses and other public sector workers are worth, insulting when MPs voted themselves another 11% raise this year. Apologies for my venting, and again, well bloody done.
