Not everyone will understand,
Had to take the little black cat for her final visit to the vet today, must be 11 or 12 years since she decided to adopt me.
Horrible knowing you have to do it,relieved now its done.
23 years old, fiesty to the end.
30 kilo's lighter than my English bull terrier cross,no doubt who was in control, never seen any dog make the same mistake twice !
So odd not to hear her squeeky call any more, or see her in the sun at the window.
Bless

I took my dog to the vets after my wife had been the night before with him
His eyes were flickering side to side and he kept bumping into things with loosing his balance.
The vet on the previous evening had said that ben was done for so has my wife couldn't bring herself to have him put down that job was left to me.
The vet the next day was surprised that I wanted him putting down has he could give him some tablets to cure his problems, and they worked.
Imagine my relief.
I was fortunate not to have to say goodbye to him in that way and he passed away with his head on my lap about four years ago in the early hours has his time had come.
I still miss ben and he was a lovely natured dog with loads of character. So yes in a way I do understand what you are going through.

I'm one of the ones who really understand! This house is home to three feline friends, all completely different and all with their own special place in our hearts.
Glass duly raised.

Unfortunately, I too understand. So, I'll join you for a while, & raise a glass to absent four-legged friends.

We had to make that decision with our Montycat last year. He was very elderly, pushing 20 years old, type 1 diabetic and had heart problems, but it had to be done and we really had to man up to do it. Glad we did, he's probably off watching butterflies now and couldn't give a toss about his old life. We decided to make our home available within a few days and we were adopted by the little tosser that lives with us now. He's a whopping 16lbs, still has personal space issues, but I wouldn't be without him. He managed a whole 7 mins on my lap at the weekend, so that makes his 'little ways' a wee bit more bearable.
The ones that say "It's only a cat/dog" really should be shot with a barrel of their own shit!
