Checking a packet of rice for the ingredients....

When you read that the rice only contained rice,was that reassuring or did you feel somewhat cheated ?
At least you the consumer were fully informed.
Before food labelling regs became a legal obligation, I'd cooked a massive pan of chilli con carne,went to put the rice on,opened the packet and a 1942 American battleship fell into the saucepan....
so pissed off,ruined the meal

I once bought some individually wrapped cheese sticks for my grandchildren.

Thjat would be cheese, yes?

After reading the list of ingredients I threw them away and just cut bits of cheese of my, well, cheese!

Can't remember the list now but there were about 6 ingredients and one of them was 'cheese flavouring'.

Good grief!

Its no bad thing that the food industry is facing its responsibilities and clearly stating ingredients as some food allergies are serious.
Im glad that lgislation on food labelling has changed,the previous laws were way too vague.
Im allergic to wheat flour and oats in a big bad painful way, wheat is the cheapest,most common bulking and binding agent in the food industry so Im happy about new food labelling
Fairly sure there really is no need to tell us a packet of rice contains rice, milk contains milk and peanuts were processed in a factory that erm handles nuts

The food industry is having to face its responsibilities same has the NHS and companys to prevent from being taken to court for negligence, and thus paying compensation.

I'm just glad they've started adding cooking and serving instructions.
I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to shove a packet of raw rice up my arse.

Dude that's why there's instruction as the rice is much easier to get up there once it's boiled.

Many, many years ago, I and my then boyfriend visited my sister in hospital. Before leaving, we both went to the toilet - I to the Ladies and he to the Gents, of course.
Once outside we found we had each taken a toilet roll - because on every sheet was printed "HOSPITAL PROPERTY - NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY"
