I shouldnt waste too much time decorating it. First good wind and it should take the wall with it. :smt002

Don't think so my finely whiskered freind, look at the post boyo, their double up, I assume the other one is i the ground, what an unusual construction tho..........is it a cavity wall fence??

Yes....posts that would go straight thro the footings if they were more than the width of the wall, unless the posts are fixed to the wall and stop at ground level.

Yeah see what you mean!! There may be a few courses of bricks below ground level but that would still no good!

Ok snappy don't bother painting it, wont be there long

not a brick in the wall at all - tis reinforced concrete and the fence just tucks over the wall - tis not to the ground on the other side - neither are the posts

Pressure treated sawn softwood that hasnt been externally treated? (cheap stuff at that..)

Hmm... Ok then.. it's sat on a fairly flat wall, so that's great for the sawn ends sat on it.. the water'll creep up thru that nice cut end in next to no time... so let's give it a year for the rot to set in..

So that'll take us to this time next year. By that time that crappy metal fixing and the galvy nails will have started to move about, so that'll be on it's way to coming loose (reckon it'll catch the wind nicely) which'll also let the rain in, as well as holding the water nicely to the cut ends there..

So we have:-
1. A cheap fence that the neighbour hasnt bothered to treat properly (the standard treating lasts about a year or so in UK climes before needing to be redone, if it's gonna survive..)
2. It's held together with nails, not screws.. (Or are they screws? Add 6 months to that if it's screws)

I'll go for July 2008.

24th, to be precise.. :smt002

I fekkin hate B and Q.

:) I shall treat my side to some paint :smt063

the weather (west/southwest) comes from his side, and the previous ones haven't lasted well - at least this is featheredge board not those thin panels.

No idea how he fixed it to the wall. We wrecked a household drill attaching a batten to it for my semi-shed am assuming he had tougher tools :smt017

did seem odd that he didnt fit post holders to the wall and slot them in
