Depends what trade you're in. Engineering is going through somewhat of a boom of late. Skilled machinists are commanding top dollar in some places. It's the lack of a home grown skill base that's scuppering things. You can have as many qualifications under your belt as you like, but it means nothing unless you can do the job you're 'qualified' for. :smt002

Sounds like you've got things pretty much sussed anyway dude.. Fair fucks to ya! :smt003

I'm lucky in that there's still quite a lot of metal bashing in the area. There's usually somewhere where you can get in doing something or other, with an option on ending up doing something else. All part of life's rich wotsit.

I guess it's a "Well done for leaving a crap job" to you, Mr. Squid. Good luck in finding a new (and better!) job soon.

Is 10am too early for a pint (or two) of Old Peculiar?? :smt002
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Actually our HR "people" spend a lot of time telling us managers that employees leave their managers ..... handy cop out for issues of pay, company policy/hassle etc etc.

Small update.
Had a phone call from an old gaffer crewing up for a new job so it looks like I'm sorted. It's local, enough money and he's a decent sort to work with. I'm going to have to buy a video to keep up with Jeremy Kyle though.

Yes good news indeed - and your time between jobs has been an extended summer break

(just a shame it's been such a crap summer)
