Redundancy was finalised, signed, sealed paid off etc. an hour ago.
Very glad the waiting in limbo is finally over, but not looking forward to being enmeshed in the benefits system - not had to deal with it for 35 years.
Anyway, I'll be sat here for a while pondering stuff, so feel free to join me in a drink or three.

I'll be kind on you and go for a Tyskie. It's £1 a can at our local wog shop and is 7%abv, so getting pissed for a fiver is now doable again. Before discovering this little gem, getting drunk for five quid hadn't occurred since secondary school.. I only have to get a sniff of White Lightning and I'm ill..lol.. ![:smt003](./images/smilies/003.gif)

Good luck Mart, I've just gone through the same thing, but much easier in my case, as I was exactly six months off 65, so after 37 years in the job taking redundancy was a no brainer.
I took the money and ran, and have no plans to look for a job.
I'm guessing you are quite a bit younger than me and if you got redundancy money there won't be much "goverment help" (?) coming along for a while, so you need to get out fairly quickly and see what there is, as it ain't easy at the moment.
Over the last couple of years, around 1400 people eventually volunteered for redundancy at Rotherham Council and many of those younger than me are still looking for work after spending the redundancy money.
I'll have a pint with you!

I'll have some wine from one of those boxes - it's really rather good!
Redundancy is an odd and rather unpleasant feeling, but it was once a very good thing for me, got me out of a rut - I know times are hard but anything could happen!

The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
I was made redundant from my previous job. The redundancy money doesn't last long - well not if you only get minimum statutory that is - and I guess in these times that's probably the norm.

My work just sorta faded away as my illness faded in, with no help from anywhere (unless I could find a quack to say I would last less than another 6 months)... my old boss was a right git!
Couldn't have survived without drawing assorted benefits I now find myself entitled to. Keep waiting for some b'stard to grab half of that back again.
