has anyone else noticed the demise of the 'optimum serving temperature' in bars?
Days gone, Lager and other similar Gnatspish was served chilled, proper ales and beers were served pretty much at room temperature.
Since the alcopop age have started working the pubs and clubs, everything is overchilled

So right Kwackerz, Real ale (& red wine) has to be served at, at least room temp in order for it to be appreciated as it was meant. Even onion water(lager) shouldent be served as cold as every pub seems to do it nowadays,Its a fact that the colder alcohol gets the less taste it has, So make a super chilled beer and it wont matter if its any good as no one will care cause "its in fashion"
Perhaps it's coz they are 'bars'. Proper beer is sold in 'pubs'. Although more and more pubs are turning into bars/restaurants/clubs these days....... moan moanKwackerz wrote:has anyone else noticed the demise of the 'optimum serving temperature' in bars?

I think that's what's brought me back to beer after being almost exclusively a wine drinker for years - had a pint of beer here and there that I could actually taste cos it wasn't ice cold!Kwackerz wrote:has anyone else noticed the demise of the 'optimum serving temperature' in bars?

I drank Doom Bar in Cornwall, and Adnans in Oxfordshire and draught mild in north Wales - all down to bike and car rallies!
Hi LG, good to see you on here again
