Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Dodgy Side Stand

#19 Post by Mellor Mon » Tue Mar 30, 2010 2:11 pm

Thanks Kiwi,

That confirms it, I need a new side stand. What are the options, is an American spec my best option, how easy source and to fit, how much will one set me back??

How do you attach photo's to a post??

  • USA Falco stand
    Gixer stand
    VTR Firestorm stand
    Fireblade stand
    Bubseywoo stand
All have their advantages and disadvantages - and require different amounts of modification (yes the USA one does not bolt on without its bracket being modified).

I believe the bubseywoo and Fireblade are straight bolt ons.

Have a search of the Falco and Aprilia Technical sections of the forum for more info.

attaching photos, youll need a host. free ones are places like imageshack
http://imageshack.us/

Upload it to there, then copy the photo's link location, (it's url.. which is the one ending in Jpeg, or whatever format you saved the pic as)
then in this forum 'post a reply',
click the Img button once,
paste the link
then hit the Img button again to close the code
Then click submit.

Welcome to the site :smt006
Great choice of bike, it will grow and grow on you.
Best bike I've ever had and the most reliable, will stay with me for the duration.
I used the Bubseywoo stand off eBay, fits straight on, no electrics to mod. Mine has been absolutely fine, with no problems on quality.
Maxton rear shock is also a real bonus.
Just enjoy !

Looks like I'll go for the Bubseywoo then. Seems to be the most compatable with no mods to do.
Thanks to all for advise.

Anyone know if a side stand from a 2008 Fireblade is a straight forward fit for the Falco?

I have no experience of it, but if D-Rider says it goes straight on, I think you'll find it will !
That is unless there have been any changes on the most recent Blades.

P.S.

Ooops ..... looks like I might just have been a minute out on that post!

Welcome Mellor Man - the journey has only just begun. Beware that we can spend your money faster than you can earn it. Great choice of bike - enjoy.

We'll be fixing a date in the next day or so for a meet at Newark. Check the Ride Out threads.
