I think the new phpBB has the Text/Number box where you have to repeat the shown code. This prevents the Bots? Im sure TS uses that. This version of RS uses it too. But the bots have solved that one. There are a number of enhancements in the latest version of phpBB though that make life more diffic...

Dont know. It's easy enough to ban the usernames that are common spams, just by using the disallow username facility. Both spock and I fell for that one too. But generally it doesn't work. They just use different names. Firstly they use different variations on the name like: ThomasHernande, Thomas_...

I wonder if there is any way to determine a pattern in IP addresses for some of these spam accounts. Many use similar names again and again so it's a good bet they are from the same place, maybe using the IP address ban would work. I've never studied the IP address for new registrations though.

Are all familiar spam account names, I can't imagine how many of those I've removed previously. It would be nice to be able to prevent them in some way.

Ive emailed Spoony to ask what problem he is having with his account creation and which he would like to keep. there's a couple more who I intend to email and ask the same as well. I think some new registrants create a second account because they don't get instant access with the first. In this cas...

I'm going to say, that I think that it is very sad that it has come to bickering between Mods. Even bickering between contributors is sad. Sad that some is wrong or ill informed too which makes it rather worse. For the info of all. I have been asked by Jake if I would be willing to take on the day t...

Re: A few points for the admins...

Burty.. somewhere you said you delete what.. 75 accounts a week? Fine. How many admins do we have on RS? 3? 4? A lot of you are far more intellectual than myself, admittedly, but even 30 spam accounts each a day isnt exactly taxing Yes the software needs an upgrade. Fekking hell does it! But the on...

No Camel in GPs

Camel pull out of GPs.

It's not clear in this brief report if it's effective immediately, presumably so.
